Please note that the deadline for ordering paper and pencil tests is December 31, 2017. The deadline for online contest registration is January 30, 2018. Payment for either type of test must be received by the AATF before materials will be shipped or login information distributed.
Please encourage your students to participate in this unique opportunity to show off their French skills and to earn recognition for the extraordinary things that they have learned in your classes!
Email Laurel Maughan (laurel_maughan@ccpsnet.net) if you encounter any issues in the registration process. Bon CONCOURage!
Here are three new local initiatives for the Grand Concours in Virginia:
• Les bourses au Grand Concours:
AATF-VA would like to offer to cover the contest registration fees for students who already qualify for free & reduced lunch. We can cover the fees for 100 students; we will offer this opportunity on a first come, first served basis; if you have students who we can help, please do the following ASAP:
Please make a copy of this spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/…/17lz3nR2SfrVaNOaaFIVN8b40DZ…/edit…)
and then fill it out with the names of your students whose tests we will pay for.
Email your list to laurel_maughan@ccpsnet.net.
Send payment to the AATF for the rest of your students as you normally would; we will send a check for the need-based students. The cut-off for sending this information will be January 15 so that we have time to make sure that the funds get where they need to go and so that you can get your materials promptly.
• Participation Raffle
We will offer a raffle for participating teachers to win $150 towards materials for one teacher’s classroom materials or resources. If you win, you can decide how to spend the money to best suit your students’ needs: a Quizlet premium subscription? A set of readers? Magazines? Movies? You pick. You will get one raffle ticket entry for every 10 students who sign up. The winner will be drawn at the conclusion of the testing window.
• Outstanding teacher recognition
We also want to recognize outstanding teachers for their roles in helping students to excel in the contest. Teachers of top 10-ranked students for our chapter will receive a certificate. We will also reach out to your principals or directors to make sure that they understand what it takes for you to help your students excel. They need to know and appreciate how crucial you are and what you have done for your students! This is something that we hope to expand for future contests.
